NanoInformaTIX develops a web based Sustainable Nanoinformatics Framework (SNF) platform for risk management of engineered nanomaterials (ENM) in industrial manufacturing. The tool will be based on a significant amount of data on physico-chemical and toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of ENM generated over the last decades, as well as new data coming from research. The final aim is to provide efficient user-friendly interfaces to enhance accessibility and usability of the nanoinformatics models to industry, regulators, and civil society, thus supporting sustainable manufacturing of ENM-based products.

ISTEC participates in WP3 and WP6 with the mission of supporting the realization of risk-models interface by physico-chemical characterizations of ENM; in addition, it undertakes a search for new descriptors to help risk assessment and to develop Safe-by-Design approaches. During WP6 ISTEC undertakes specific case studies, within which the models are applied and verified experimentally. These case studies will be selected based on various considerations such as relevance for stakeholders, available databases, and previous experience of NanoinformaTIX partners.
