Analysis
ISSMC has Laboratories with scientific instruments capable of measuring a wide range of chemical-physical properties of materials. In particular, it is possible to perform:
- chemical analysis (determination of the elemental composition, UV-VIS spectra, IR spectra, COD in water)
- crystallographic and mineralogical analyses (quantitative analysis of the various mineralogical phases present and relative determination of the crystallographic structure using the Rietveld method; analysis of spectra on nanocrystalline powders; study of transformations and phase transitions in temperature)
- observation of samples with electron and optical microscopes for the determination of the morphology of particles or surfaces and for mineral-petrographic analyzes
- thermal analysis for the evaluation of chemical and / or physical transformations and for the measurement of thermal expansion coefficients
- physical analyses on powders (particle size, surface area, zeta potential)
- rheological analyses (flow curves, flow limit, thixotropy, viscoelasticity)
- archaeometric and diagnostic analyzes (material characterization, origin, processing technology, degradation analysis, relative dating)
- measures of interfacial properties (contact angle, surface tension of liquids, surface energy of solids)
- mechanical measurements (flexural strength, toughness, hardness)
- electrical and magnetic measurements (resistivity, dielectric strength, dielectric constant, piezoelectric constants, susceptibility)
- electrochemical measurements
- heat treatments (high vacuum sintering, in oxidizing or reducing atmosphere and in inert gas flow, uniaxial hot pressing, isostatic pressing under gas pressure)
- evaluations of biocompatibility and cytotoxicity
