UHTC Conference – Materials for Extreme Environment Applications VI

2024, 14th-19th April

2024, 14th-19th April. The International Conference “Ultra High Temperature Ceramics: Materials for Extreme Environment Applications VI” will be held at Giardini Naxos (Messina, Italy), charming Sicilian little town known worldwide for its incomparable landscape painted by a unique fusion of sea and sky dominated by the volcano Etna. The Conference seeks to bring together the entire community – manufacturing, processing and bench test scientists, designers, engineers, as well as final users of these materials – under one roof to present and discuss emerging and the latest technological and performance advancements for bulks and fibre- reinforced UHTC techniques.

Chairs of the Conference: Diletta Sciti (CNR-ISSMC), Laura Silvestroni (CNR-ISSMC), Frédéric Monteverde (CNR-ISSMC)

Co-Chairs of the Conference: Gregory Thompson (University of Alabama, USA), Raffaele Savino (Università di Napoli “Federico II”), Jon Binner (University of Birmingham), Eric Wuchina (Naval Surface Warfare Center, USA)

Ultra-High Temperature Ceramics (UHTC) are a family of compounds that display a unique set of properties which make them suited to operate in extreme environments including engines, high-speed vehicles, race car brakes, plasma arc electrodes, advanced nuclear fuels, fusion first walls and diverters, cutting tools, furnace elements, high temperature shielding and even solar absorbers of concentrating solar power systems.

The Conference is organized under the auspices of ECI (Engineering Conferences International). This is the sixth of a regular series of events every two years, and covers these following principal tracks:

  1. Novel processing methods
  2. Fundamental properties
  3. Processing, characterization, and properties
  4. Response to extreme environment
  5. UHTCMCs and coatings
  6. Simulation for prediction stability
  7. New applications and feasibility

The abstract submission will open shortly.
