Werner von Siemens Excellence Award 2015

4 February 2016. A young researcher from CNR ISTEC Faenza received the Werner von Siemens Excellence Award 2015.

Jan Hostaša, a research fellow at CNR ISTEC, won second place for the best doctoral dissertation thesis: Transparent YAG ceramics for laser applications, among nearly 300 participants. The research took place at CNR ISTEC, Faenza, in the Transparent Ceramics research group and at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, Czech Republic.

The Werner von Siemens Excellence award is a prize with a long tradition, organized in collaboration between Siemens Czech Republic, the major Czech univerities and the Czech Academy of Sciences, under the auspices of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports and the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

However, for Jan this is not the first time, as already in 2010 he received the Werner von Siemens Excellence Award for his master thesis Thermal conductivity of Al2O3 – ZrO2 composite ceramics.

The awarding ceremony took place in the historical Bethlehem Chapel in Prague. in the photo the tree winners (Jan is the third from the right) together with the CEO of Siemens Czech Republic, Eduard Palíšek, and the chairman of the evaluation committee, Prof. Zbyněk Škvor.
